TBM Rail has linked up with antimicrobial pioneers Addmaster to offer bus and train customers greater protection against bacteria on public transport.
Addmaster’s Biomaster antimicrobial additive technology can now be built in to Nylon R-AG coatings for grab poles, seat handles and arm rests that TBM Rail supplies to fleet operators across the UK.
An antimicrobial prevents the growth of microbes, such as bacteria and mould.
Nylon R-AG, the toughest coating system for transportation, has been tested and approved against EN45545-2 and meets stringent ISO standards.
Recent media reports have highlighted alarming amounts of potentially harmful germs on surfaces inside passenger carriages. The Biomaster silver ions technology prevents bacteria from growing, producing energy or replicating.
This offers protection against the dangers travellers can’t see.
The antimicrobial additive technology is easily incorporated into any plastic, textile, paper, paint or coating. It becomes an integral part of the manufacturing process and finished products.
Long lasting protection for passengers
Biomaster ensures antimicrobial product protection for the effective lifetime of the products, helping to keep surfaces clean and hygienic. It reduces the threat of cross contamination.
Neil Smith, TBM Rail director, said: “As rail and bus services get busier passengers are rightly concerned about hygiene. So many of the surfaces are touched thousands of times each day.
“Although operators are stepping up cleaning regimes, germs can go undetected.
“The Biomaster system is a huge step forward in offering those customers higher standards.
“Our partnership with Addmaster enables us to offer surface protection from bacteria that will ultimately be reflected in the operators’ customer satisfaction scores as confidence in cleanliness grows.”
Addmaster has 20 years’ experience and is the market leading supplier of technically innovative additives.
Based in Stafford, Addmaster manufactures all of its products in the UK for its global distribution network.
Karl Shaw, Addmaster Marketing Manager, said: “We are delighted to be working with TBM Rail. Our combined businesses knowledge and expertise represent a good fit that can really benefit passengers’ needs and we’ll be looking forward to improving rail travel hygiene together.”
The Biomaster antimicrobial technology can also boost TBM Rail’s other services. The additives can be applied to washroom facilities, toilet tanks and piping, and also seat covers.
